Especially in times of trial, we need to return to those luminous moments when we experienced the Lord’s call to devote our lives to his service.

Pope Francis

Letter to Priests, 2019

Let ourselves be renewed by the love of God

“He who lives the exercises in an authentic way experiences the attraction and the appeal of God, and returns renewed, transformed in ordinary life, in ministry, in daily relationships, bringing with him the fragrance of Christ”. Pope Francis.

NOVEMBER 2020 Monday 9  – Friday 13  The retreat will begin on Monday evening (9th Nov) with an introductory talk at 8pm and end on Friday morning (13th Nov) with Morning Prayer and Mass.

How it will work

Given that many priests will not have managed to do a retreat during 2020 we have decided to go ahead with our planned November retreat online, sticking as closely as possible to our usual timetable for the Lismullin retreats. The preacher (Fr Gavan Jennings) will broadcast all the events of the retreat via Zoom. That way you will have the discipline of a timetable, as well as an awareness that you are doing the retreat accompanied by others. The evening talks will be given by three different guest speakers and at the end of each talk there will be a time for questions and answers.

Guests speakers

  • Monday, 9 November, 8pm: Cardinal George Pell.
  • Tuesday, 10 November, 8pm: Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan (Diocese of Waterford & Lismore).
  • Wednesday, 11 November, 8pm: Bishop Mark Davies (Diocese of Shrewsbury).
  • Thursday, 12 November, 8pm: Bishop John Keenan (Diocese of Paisley).
  • Friday, 13 November, 10.30am: Bishop Philip Egan (Diocese of Portsmouth).

There is no fee nor suggested donation if you are only attending the talks.

There will not be a fee proper for this retreat. However, we are aware that Lismullin has suffered financially from the fall in income during the pandemic and so we would like to suggest instead a donation of €50 – €100 to Lismullin ( There is no fee nor suggested donation if you are only attending the talks.
