A library of books have been written on St Patrick, the man and his cult. If we speak the words of the Confession and the Letter to Coroticus out loud we hear one of the last voices to speak from the Roman Empire. And that voice came from the very end of the known world. But how do we move from that clear voice to the words of those who wrote about him – words that have come down to us from the beginning of the seventh century? That is what will be discussed in this lecture.
